All we do is win

May 11

Another softball win last night. We played a man down and still 10 run ruled the team. My hitting was atrocious to say the least. This was my first game that I have struck out looking and fouled out in the same game. I went 2-5 which absolutely kills my batting average. Heck, even the umpires ribbed me for it. I don’t think there is anything more embarrassing than standing at the plate in SLOW pitch softball and watching a ball go by you without swinging only to be called out. Sigh! Our team is 7-0 I believe. I think this is a good mixture of players and I have enjoyed playing with these guys.

May 09

The guy that sits across from me at the office has been sick for the past 2 days.  I decided that a friendly prank should be played on him. This was the results:

Things that were used in this prank: Bubble wrap, Caution Tape, Lysol Spray, Lysol Wipes, Tissue, Pill Bottle filled with TicTacs, Hand Sanitizer,  Safety Vest, and last but not least, Masks!

IIS7/7.5 WordPress Plugin Permission Issues

May 08

I figured I would write this article up for those of you who are having issues with your WordPress site and trying to upgrade a plugin but it fails. There are several things you will need to do when hosting a WordPress site on a Windows 2008 R2 server.

  1. Make sure that the wp-content/plugins folder has the IUSER account with modify permissions
  2. Edit your PHP.ini and comment out this line: extension=php_wincache.dll
  3. Perform an IISRESET and enjoy!

I host my own blog and had to do a ton of research on how to get the plugins enabled. Turns out that wincache.dll was the root cause as to why all my plugin upgrades were failing. I was able to install a new plugin, but deleting and upgrading were impossible and always failed. I hope this helps someone out there in Internet Land!

Plan for tonight

May 07

I plan on going home and waiting for Jenny to get there and then go for a run. We are training every day for this 4 mile adventure in Gasden, AL. I cannot express how tired I am today at work. Even the energy drink I am pounding right now isn’t helping. I guess no sleep yesterday coupled with a 3 mile run in this heat did me in. Have to press through. After the run it will be eat, shower, then bed early. I have to give props to Jenny for being a trooper this weekend and hanging in there while I worked so late Saturday night. She stayed up with me which helped me out a ton. She also motivated me to go on a run yesterday afternoon and kept pushing me which I am thankful for. I seriously don’t know how I am going to have the endurance for the 4 miles, but I guess I will push through this.

If you haven’t seen the Avengers yet, go see it! We managed to watch it in 3D last night and it was awesome. Worth the money to watch it on the big screen. Can’t wait for the Blu-Ray to come out in 3D. Will have to add that to my collection.

Oh what a night…

May 06

I’m not talking about Franky Valley and the 4 Seasons either. Last night was horrible on-call. I made a change to a production system and accidentally formatted the drive. I call it,”It’s 1 AM and I have been up for almost 24 hours and I am tired” effect. Needless to say, we are in the process of restoring the data right now which could take days or even weeks for that matter. I am not a happy camper. I am extremely tired and I know Jenny is as well. She was a trooper and got up at around 3AM to check on me. We didn’t go to sleep till around 4:30AM last night. So, for those of you who are our FB friends that had the party last night. I hope you understand why we weren’t able to make it.

In workout news, Jenny and I ran the Veterans Park again today in Alabaster. 2 times around the track which we believe is around 3 miles. Lots of running today and less walking which was a good sign. I feel pretty good having sleep deprivation and it being almost 90 degrees outside.

Weekend of fun

May 04

NOT! Tonight I start on-call for the weekend. I have to be up Saturday night at midnight to do work. Seems like I get shafted more than the other guys when I am on-call. At least that is how it appears.

Tomorrow, Jenny and I are going to head down to Prattville to help mom and dad with their show. For those of you who don’t know, my mother makes knitted scarves and crochets necklaces. You can find her store at the following link: Tiger-Stripes. I suggest everyone checks these out. They make great gifts and look like beads. Be the envy of your next church group or drinking group. Whatever group you belong to for that matter…

Tomorrow night is the Cinco De Mayo celebration at our friends the Atwell’s. Again, I am on-call which means no adult beverages for me. Cannot be intoxicated while on a conference call doing work. Or can I? Nah, I like having a paycheck 2 times a months.

23 more days till the beach!

Site Changes

May 03

I made some changes to the site today to help out with the speeds as well as some cosmetic changes. I found out that the Contact Us page will not work with my new setup due to me not having a mail gateway. This means if you were to fill out the form and click submit, it would error out. Also, I have added a new About Me to the sidebar along with a new link up top to the Blaze2000 store. Just something nerdy that I did years ago that only 1 person has ever ordered from. My buddy Justin in California gets props for that. How’s the beer stein buddy?
